Parallel Lines Presents:
Live at The Borderline, Soho
London-based pop futurist Rina Sawayama today shares her debut ‘mini-album’ RINA. The 8-track collection includes singles ‘Cyber Stockholm Syndrome’, ‘Alterlife’ and ‘Tunnel Vision’ featuring Shamir, and is available to buy and stream on all services.
Borrowing the term popularised by Japanese idols and K-pop supergroups, Rina Sawayama’s ‘mini-album’ is an 8-track taste of her signature neo-pop sound. Inspired by racing game simulator soundtracks, 90’s retro-cyberpunk, Anglo-Japanese culture clash and the unique sensation of ‘offline anxiety’, Rina’s musical blend has gained her cult status since releasing her breakout track ‘Where U Are’. Present on Rina’s mini-album are producers Clarence Clarity and Hoost. “I had the most amazing time working with Clarence Clarity and Hoost on this mini album over the past year,” said Rina discussing the record. “The early 00s pop/rock via late 90s R&B imagined over a computer game soundscape is just a sample of the sound to come in 2018. I’m excited to finally get it out there and play my London show next week.”
Rina Sawayama is a London-based model, singer, producer and creative hailing from Tokyo. She brings her incredible live show to Hackney’s Pickle Factory on November 2nd of this year before setting the foundation for a breakthrough year this winter.
