The London’s Lost Venues series comes to the home of indie & alternative clubbing in London’s most historic entertainment district Soho, at one of the city’s most storied music venues Borderline.
Last year marked 30 years since the original Marquee Club, on Wardour Street, shut it doors. As one of Soho’s greatest clubs, it was famously cheap and easy going. It’s recognisable stage hosted remarkably early shows from an unbelievable roster of today’s heroes. The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and a whole host of then-future world beaters played shows in the 1960s before going on to become pioneers of their sound.
Throughout the 1970s it became London’s music industry social club and saw artists like Queen, David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, Joy Division, The Cure, The Stranglers, Buzzcocks and The Jam grace the famous stage.
To pay tribute to such a legendary venue, our residents GRL TLK play the best in indie & alternative, including a 90 minute set of artists that played Marquee Club!
Expect to hear: The Rolling Stones / The Who / The Jimi Hendrix Experience / Fleetwood Mac / Led Zeppelin / Pink Floyd / Queen / The Sex Pistols / Joy Division / The Cure / The Stranglers / The Buzzcocks / The Jam / The Faces / Prince / Wham / Bob Dylan / The Police / Status Quo and more, alongside the usual blend of indie and alternative hits!
